Results: While more Chinese women experienced SUI (p =.049), American women who experienced SUI experienced it earlier in their pregnancy (p =.003) and more frequently (p <.0001) than the Chinese women. Therefore, it can be assumed that although less American women experienced SUI, the impact was greater on their daily living activities. Irrespective of ethnicity, only 14% (n = 18) of women who described having SUI sought medical aid. Conclusion: The disconnect between high incidence and low rates of seeking treatment needs future exploration to develop interventions tailored to educate women about SUI and its role during pregnancy.]]> Wed 16 Feb 2022 14:46:28 AEDT ]]> Australian midwives' recognition of and response to maternal deterioration: a literature review https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:38415 n = 2,412), no studies met the inclusion criteria. This review revealed a lack of published research examining factors impacting Australian midwives' capability to recognize and respond to the deteriorating maternal patient. Conclusion and Implications for Practice: While research shows, for registered nurses, that high workloads and poor skill mix can negatively impact capability to respond to the deteriorating patient, little is known of registered midwives' capability during similar health events. This review highlights a major gap in current knowledge regarding Australian registered midwives' experiences surrounding the recognition of and response to the deteriorating maternal patient. Increasing understanding in this area can inform and support the Australian midwifery education, practice, and National health policies to improve health outcomes for childbearing women. Further research in this area is therefore required.]]> Wed 08 Sep 2021 11:16:45 AEST ]]> Nurses and midwives teaching in the academic environment: an appreciative inquiry https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:40507 Thu 14 Jul 2022 09:15:22 AEST ]]> The nuchal cord at birth: what do midwives think and do? https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:7032 Sat 24 Mar 2018 10:46:19 AEDT ]]> Routine vaginal examination to check for a nuchal cord https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:7034 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:37:52 AEDT ]]> Decision-Making Theories and their usefulness to the midwifery profession both in terms of midwifery practice and the education of midwives https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:13221 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:18:12 AEDT ]]> A review of the literature: midwifery decision-making and birth https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:10034 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:12:16 AEDT ]]>
