Included studies consistently reported an increased risk associated with greater numbers of intraindividual risk factors or unhealthy behaviours and the opposite for healthy or protective behaviours. A meta-analysis of studies with dementia outcomes resulted in a pooled relative risk for dementia of 1.20 (95% CI 1.04 to 1.39) for one risk factor, 1.65 (95% CI 1.40 to 1.94) for two and 2.21 (95% CI 1.78 to 2.73) for three or more, relative to no risk factors. Limitations include dependence on published results and variations in study outcome, cognitive assessment, length of follow-up and definition of risk factor exposure. Conclusions The strength of the reported associations, the consistency across studies and the suggestion of a dose response supports a need to keep modifiable risk factor exposure to a minimum and to avoid exposure to additional modifiable risks. Further research is needed to establish whether particular combinations of risk factors confer greater risk than others.]]> Wed 14 Sep 2022 08:23:22 AEST ]]> Privacy preservation in data mining through noise addition https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:4153 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:55:04 AEST ]]> Health risk factors in Aboriginal community controlled health services: an exploration of prevalence, clustering, screening options and intervention preferences https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:31098 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:48:26 AEST ]]> Hierarchical clustering using the arithmetic-harmonic cut: complexity and experiments https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:9497 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:36:12 AEST ]]> Support vector clustering of time series data with alignment kernels https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:14159 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:51:27 AEST ]]> Benchmarking a memetic algorithm for ordering microarray data https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:9258 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:50:21 AEST ]]> Multi-Purpose Boundary-Based Clustering on Proximity Graphs for Geographical Data Mining https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:690 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:29:13 AEST ]]> 5G-based communication system for future vehicular ad-hoc network https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:38546 Wed 06 Mar 2024 15:22:25 AEDT ]]> Clustered multicast protocols for warning message transmissions in a VANET https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:38130 Wed 04 Aug 2021 15:07:37 AEST ]]> FoodEx2vec: new foods' representation for advanced food data analysis https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:39848 Tue 28 Jun 2022 09:52:59 AEST ]]> Clustering of multiple health-risk factors among vocational education students: a latent class analysis https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:39823 Tue 26 Jul 2022 13:52:10 AEST ]]> Similarity clustering-based atlas selection for pelvic CT image segmentation https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:35115 Tue 23 Jun 2020 13:04:43 AEST ]]> Exploring the challenges for expatriate student adjustment https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:15010 Tue 11 Aug 2020 13:39:50 AEST ]]> Intrinsic or interface clustering induced ferromagnetism in Fe-doped In2O3 diluted magnetic semiconductors https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:45389 2O3 films were deposited using a pulsed laser deposition system. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis show that the films deposited under oxygen partial pressures of 10–3 and 10–5 Torr are uniform without clusters or secondary phases. However, the film deposited under 10–7 Torr has a Fe-rich phase at the interface. Magnetic measurements demonstrate that the magnetization of the films increases with decreasing oxygen partial pressure. Muon spin relaxation (μSR) analysis indicates that the volume fractions of the ferromagnetic phases in PO2 = 10–3, 10–5, and 10–7 Torr-deposited samples are 23, 49, and 68%, respectively, suggesting that clusters or secondary phases may not be the origin of the ferromagnetism and that the ferromagnetism is not carrier-mediated. We propose that the formation of magnetic bound polarons is the origin of the ferromagnetism. In addition, both μSR and polarized neutron scattering demonstrate that the Fe-rich phase at the interface has a lower magnetization compared to the uniformly distributed phases.]]> Tue 08 Nov 2022 09:39:02 AEDT ]]> Just how high-risk are ongoing smokers? The survey assessed six behaviors (binge drinking and smoking in the past 6 months, moderate-to-vigorous physical activity/week, sitting time/day, fruit and vegetable intake/day, and sleep duration/night). Each behavior was represented by a dichotomous variable reflecting adherence to national guidelines. Exploratory analyses were conducted. Clusters were identified using latent class analysis. Results: Three classes emerged: "moderate risk" (moderately likely to binge drink and not eat enough fruit, high probability of insufficient vegetable intake; Class 1, 52%); "inactive, non-smokers" (high probabilities of not meeting guidelines for physical activity, sitting time and fruit/vegetable consumption, very low probability of smoking; Class 2, 24%), and "smokers and binge drinkers" (high rates of smoking and binge drinking, poor fruit/vegetable intake; Class 3, 24%). There were significant differences between the classes in terms of psychological distress (p = 0.003), depression (p < 0.001), and anxiety (p = 0.003). Specifically, Class 3 ("smokers and binge drinkers") showed higher levels of distress, depression, and anxiety than Class 1 ("moderate risk"), while Class 2 ("inactive, non-smokers") had greater depression than the "moderate risk" group. Discussion: Results indicate that risk behaviors are prevalent and clustered in 18-year old Australians. Mental health symptoms were significantly greater among the two classes that were characterized by high probabilities of engaging in multiple risk behaviors (Classes 2 and 3). An examination of the clustering of lifestyle risk behaviors is important to guide the development of preventive interventions. Our findings reinforce the importance of delivering multiple health interventions to reduce disease risk and improve mental well-being.]]> Thu 14 Apr 2022 10:58:55 AEST ]]> Multiple health risk factors in vocational education students: A systematic review https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:49333 Thu 11 May 2023 15:21:53 AEST ]]> ReBucket: a method for clustering duplicate crash reports based on call stack similarity https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:31728 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:43:31 AEDT ]]> The LFA-1-associated molecule PTA-1 (CD226) on T cells forms a dynamic molecular complex with protein 4.1G and human discs large https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:1955 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:33:18 AEDT ]]> Networks and geography: modelling community network structures as the outcome of both spatial and network processes https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:15276 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:24:13 AEDT ]]> A cross-sectional survey of health risk behaviour clusters among a sample of socially disadvantaged Australian welfare recipients https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:13475 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:16:21 AEDT ]]> A novel approach to ball detection for humanoid robot soccer https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:19215 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:54:58 AEDT ]]> Relative neighborhood graphs uncover the dynamics of social media engagement https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:25942 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:41:27 AEDT ]]> Concurrent lifestyle risk factors: clusters and determinants in an Australian sample https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:29170 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:35:45 AEDT ]]> Are the most popular users always trustworthy? The DWT is used as a correlational method, and proposed as a new metric for synchronisation and visualisation for a multidimensional time series. The wavelet based results are compared to Moran's traditional synchronisation test and to a self organising map time series clustering approach. The Maximal Overlap DWT analysis successfully identify four subcomponents in each flowering series characterised as a (i) non-flowering phase (dl), (ii) duration (d2), (iii) annual (d3) and (iv) intensity (d4) cycles. The wavelet correlation (WCORR) signatures are shown to exhibit a common pattern for synchronous species pairs, for example d2, d3 and d4 WCORR values being significant and positive for E. leucoxylon and E. tricarpa whereas for species pairs that are asynchronous the d2 and d3 specific WCORR values are significant and negative for E. tricarpa and E. polyanthemos. The profiles of wavelet cross correlation (WCCORR) enable us to further understand how synchrony may relate to the subcomponents of flowering (peak annual cycles, start, cessation, duration, overlap) and climate. The positive periods of the WCCORR profiles for d2 reflect flowering overlap between species pairs. The d3 WCCORR's peak at the lag which is the difference between the species pair's peak flowering months. Distinctly different patterns for d3 WCCORR are associated with asynchronous and synchronous time series. The sinusoidal and cycling of the d3 specific WCCORR profiles mirror the cyclic 6 monthly climatic influence on species flowering, where for 6 months if temperature is positively correlated with flowering, rainfall is negative and vice versa.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:25:40 AEDT ]]> Multi-level clustering and its visualization for exploratory spatial analysis https://novaprd-lb.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/uon:3382 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:18:55 AEDT ]]> Which modifiable health risk behaviours are related?
