- Description
- My argument is as follows: atheists should write theology, for they are uniquely placed although not always willing to do so, and a Marxist-inspired approach is one of the better ways to go about the task. As my argument unfolds I shall touch base with the arguments' of the so-called New Atheists largely to show how they have missed the mark, and the "death of God" or "after God" positions - of Thomas J. J. Altizer and Mark C. Taylor, again, to indicate their shortcomings and as a lead-up to a more profound Marxist inspired approach. What I propose in the final and longest section on Marxism and theology should really be read as prolegomena, a groundwork for promising lines of thought concerning context, explanation, ambivalence, fetishes and secularism.
