- Description
- Pressure within health and social services to provide evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness of interventions has led to the adoption of evidence-based practice approaches in a range of disciplines, including social work. Informed by several theoretical perspectives, some of which are considered in this chapter, evidence-based practice has been supported, resisted and debated in social work. First, however, the nature, assumptions and principles associated with evidence-based practice are presented, along with some of the debates surrounding its application to social work.
